Avind International Oy acquires Transpoint International (FI) Oy and its two Russian subsidiaries owned by VR Group. With the acquisition, VR will divest its road logistics in Russia. Transpoint International has about 90 employees in Helsinki, Kotka and Vyborg.
With the acquisition, Avind will become one of Finland’s largest Russian logistics companies, that offers services also to CIS-countries, Central-Asia and China.
– We have been looking for a suitable company to buy for a long time. Transpoint International was a perfect match for us. We already knew the company and it complements our current range of services well. When VR decided to divest its international road logistics business in Russia, it created a great opportunity for expansion, says Kari Talvitie, CEO of Avind International.
Avind’s customer base consists of freight forwarders, large industrial and commercial companies all the way to SMEs, in Finland and abroad.
The terminals it operates have a total of 40,000 square meters of storage space. Hamina’s warehouse has also 11,000 pallet spaces operated with a smart system, which provides a fast and smooth service also for online stores. The company handles everything that is packaged or can be packed. The service portfolio includes also higher and wider special transports.
Avind has an extensive network of subcontractors and agreements with about one
hundred largest carriers in Russia.
Several hundred shipments leave the warehouse every week. At the same time, Avind transports 4,000 loads a year to Russia and produces the necessary export and import documents for 10,000 forwarding shipments. The warehouse is connected to a twohundredmeter track, about half of which is covered and sheltered, where train are loaded to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and China.
With the acquisition, Avind’s range of services will be expanded with 51 trucks with customs broker’s license, frozen and refrigerated transports, a double decker option and customs representative’s license in Russia. It will also have ISO 9001, 14 001 and 45 001 -certifications.
– After the transaction, we produce all the services ourselves. When we have for-warding, customs clearance in Finland and Russia, import and export transportation and warehousing services in our own hands and we can also control the quality more than before, says Kari Talvitie, CEO of Avind International.
While there is enough to digest for a while in the recent acquisition, Kari has a clear vision for Avind’s future.
Avind’s goal is to continue to grow. However, the priority is to guarantee the best working environment in the industry for our staff and the best service on the market for our customers.
– I’ve always thought that whatever I do, it has to be the best on the market, Kari says.
